Sarah was recently called out by Harper’s Bazaar as an ‘Australian fashion illustrator to follow’. She has been an official illustrator for Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival in both 2015 and 2016, and her work has been picked up by brands like Target, Shoes of Prey while her Instagram sketches have been shared on social media by the likes of Toni Maticevski, Rebecca Judd and Dannii Minogue. She lives in Hampton with her husband and 2 girls.

Sarah Darby explains her EDIT:

“Standing out the front of fashion events to sketch arriving guests, I have been lucky enough to watch the street style photographers at work, as they capture the images that define the fashion of the season.
As anyone will tell you, there is no set formula to attracting the lens. It can be looks, poise, sex appeal or an outfit that no one saw coming. But if you are keen to stand out, here are a few things to think about. A few observations from the sidelines…”

Look 1:
Have fun. The people who look the most comfortable in their own skin always look the best. So remember to have a little fun with it. For me it would be Christopher Kane jeans  paired with Karl Robot tote I imagine myself charging from show to show. I can hear the cameras clicking right now…

Look 2:
Think how you’ll look when you move for that all important walking shot. This gorgeous silky Ginger and Smart dress will look like you’ve been draped in silk and floating on a cloud.

Look 3:
Cool girls don’t shiver. As amazing as you look in the backless dress. (And yes, we too have saved up our pocket money to frock up.) If your arms are wrapped across your chest to stop your teeth from chattering, then that photographer might just keep looking for someone actually standing upright. So maybe consider a coat. New York Fashion Week created a long list of must have gorgeous outerwear, from shearling to leather, oversize to sculpted. Try the Kuwaii reversible jacket for something that will keep you cozy all winter.

Look 4:
Nothing sets you apart like colour. We are from Melbourne. Our palette stretches from black to white with every shade in between. So a pop of colour against the crowd of glamorous grey is bound to get you noticed. Try this soft knit and leather pants from Manning Cartell

With iconic Australian designers such as Dion Lee, Carla Zampatti, Scanlan Theodore and more, the 20th anniversary is set to be an event not to be missed!
